The production of polychron navigational drives, or polychrons as they are frequently called, is universally recognized as the turning point from the common era into the polycosmic era. However, until now, no universally standardized method has been created for creating sufficiently concentrated amounts of the navigational fluid, hence transdimensional travel has hitherto remained limited in access, and most ships and there crews remain trapped in the strict confines of local time and space.

Run on the ethereal blue liquid commonly known as ‘Norwegian Rot’, the polychron navigational drive is able to generate a field which allows one to steer cross-dimensionally through the fabric of time. No rigorous formula for calculating the acceleration of polychrons has yet been developed, but the rate of increase is generally exponential, so it is often difficult to obtain precise accuracy in the navigation of a polychron. This, until now, was an unfortunate limitation of the technology and of the science.

Based on preliminary results of current research (Zincovovich TD+17, PCD-xxx, unpublished), it seems likely that a Norwegian Rot fortified heavily with oxidized ferrous materials and processed through a mammalian bloodstream will allow for a much greater refinement of navigational technique. Materials thus refined and ingested would hypothetically allow for the direct control of the polychron arc of a polychron ark, and hence of the ship itself. The levels of Rot necessary for strict calculation and control of a polychron arc, however, are of course fatal to most creatures, explicitly to those regarded as acceptable for testing and implicitly, therefore, for humans. Experimental data regarding alternatives for processing are as yet only planned, since both the quantity of fresh animal life and oxygen-decayed iron materials for experimentation are of significant magnitude. The rust-caked riverbeds of Nerraw and Toung Ysown, however, seem the most promising for providing not only these materials, but other useful alternatives as well.
